Originally conceived in 2020, Bach en Bandoneon, is a collaboration between bandoneonist Rodrigo Avalos and Heyni Solera.

The idea first began when Rodrigo and Heyni virtually recorded Bach’s Fugue No.16 from the 2nd book of the Well-Tempered Clavier for Heyni’s mini-series, Today’s Tango with Heyni. The duo discovered that they enjoyed working together, and throughout 2020 they both arranged four of Bach’s preludes and fugues from the WTC. They also decided to each compose a Prelude and Fugue in homage to Bach. Once Argentina opened its borders to foreigners, Heyni was able to fly to Buenos Aires in late November of 2021. That month they spent together consisted of marathon rehearsals, composition, and adjusting to their arrangements. Those weeks of intense preparation culminated in two days of recording in the church, Iglesia de la Congregación Evangélica Alemana de Buenos Aires, which created a beautiful resonance that can be heard in the album.
